(a) A public employee may not be dismissed, demoted, suspended, laid off, or otherwise made subject to any disciplinary action for communicating matters of public record or information under Alaska Stat. § 40.25.110 and 40.25.120.

  • action: includes any matter or proceeding in a court, civil or criminal. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • state: means the State of Alaska unless applied to the different parts of the United States and in the latter case it includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
(b) In this section, “public employee” means any employee receiving compensation for services provided to the state, including the University of Alaska, or any political subdivision of the state.
(c) A violation of this section is a misdemeanor.
