Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 44:1-34

  • Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
The expense under such contract shall be provided for by appropriation and paid in the same manner as other county expenses, except that it shall be levied, assessed and collected only from municipalities participating and not from those which elect not to participate and which maintain their own permanent poor.
