Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 44:7-22

  • Assistance: means money payments to or on behalf of eligible persons. See New Jersey Statutes 44:7-1
  • County welfare board: means the boards established within the several counties for the purposes of administering welfare to the needy, whether set up under the authority of this chapter or pursuant to any other laws of this State. See New Jersey Statutes 44:7-1
  • State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
  • State division: means the bureau of assistance as set up within the Department of Human Services. See New Jersey Statutes 44:7-1
All old age assistance under this chapter shall be reconsidered from time to time as may be provided for by the rules of the state division. After such further investigation as the county welfare board may deem necessary or the state division may require, the amount and manner of giving assistance, or the conditions upon which it is given, may be changed, or the assistance may be withdrawn if the county welfare board finds that such action is warranted by the recipient’s circumstances or for cause.
