Unless otherwise provided by the articles of organization, an obligation of a limited cooperative association, whether arising in contract, tort, or otherwise, is not the obligation of a member. A member is not personally liable, by way of contribution or otherwise, for an obligation of the limited cooperative association solely by reason of being a member.
Terms Used In Nebraska Statutes 21-2932
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
- Organization: means a limited cooperative association, limited cooperative association governed by a law other than the Nebraska Limited Cooperative Association Act, a general partnership, a limited liability partnership, a limited partnership, a limited liability company, a business trust, a corporation, a cooperative, or any other person having a governing statute. - Tort: A civil wrong or breach of a duty to another person, as outlined by law. A very common tort is negligent operation of a motor vehicle that results in property damage and personal injury in an automobile accident.
