Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 2B:7-2

  • Reporter: Makes a record of court proceedings and prepares a transcript, and also publishes the court's opinions or decisions (in the courts of appeals).
2B:7-2. Assignment; Designation of Supervisors. a. A reporter shall be assigned by the Administrative Director of the Courts with the approval of the Chief Justice, to report proceedings as the Supreme Court may direct. Such an assignment may be changed from time to time as occasion may require.

b. With the approval of the Chief Justice, the Director may designate, from among the reporters, supervisors and assistant supervisors for specified districts as may be necessary in maintaining efficient reporting service. The supervisors and assistant supervisors may arrange, subject to the control of the Director, for the temporary transfer of one or more reporters to meet special requirements in any court, and employ and assign reporters for temporary service either on a full-time or part-time basis. A reporter designated as a supervisor or assistant supervisor shall perform these services in addition to regular duties, and for these additional services, shall be compensated in an amount fixed by the Supreme Court, which amount shall be added to and become part of the reporter’s annual salary and be paid as such.
