Every nonprofit optometric service corporation is declared to be, and shall be deemed to be, a charitable institution and an incorporated public charitable institution and shall be subject to the provisions of chapter 6 of Title 7, except as otherwise expressly provided in this chapter, and to this chapter.

Terms Used In Rhode Island General Laws 27-20.2-8
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Optometric service: means the professional services rendered by persons duly licensed under the laws of this state to practice optometry or the expense indemnity for the services, appliances, supplies, and care as may be specified in any nonprofit optometric service plan.
