Terms Used In Tennessee Code 8-48-102
- Member: means any person included in the membership of the retirement system, as provided in chapter 35, part 1 of this title. See Tennessee Code 8-34-101
- Representative: when applied to those who represent a decedent, includes executors and administrators, unless the context implies heirs and distributees. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
- State: means the state of Tennessee. See Tennessee Code 8-34-101
- United States: includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
On the death of any senator or representative from this state to the congress of the United States, or of any member of the general assembly, the county clerk of the county in which such officer, at the time of death, resided, shall give notice thereof to the governor; or on the death of the governor, such county clerk shall give notice to the speaker of the senate; and, in case of the death of any other officer, to the officer who is to fill the vacancy.
