Simplified Probate for Small Estates in Pennsylvania
In general, when someone dies, the estate must go through probate which can be a complicated and lengthy process. But many states provide less complicated options for smaller estates.
Pennsylvania law provides for simplified probate when the value of the decedent’s property less the value of real estate and property for the family and funeral expenses does not exceed $25,000. Any interested party may petition the court to have the property distributed without the regular administration proceedings.
