A proposed law passed by the legislature must be presented to the President/Governor, who then has a certain number of days (10 for the President) to approve or disapprove it. He or she vetoes a bill by returning it to the house in which it began, usually with a written message. Normally, bills the President/Governor neither signs nor vetoes within the designated period become law without his or her signature.
