- Bail: Security given for the release of a criminal defendant or witness from legal custody (usually in the form of money) to secure his/her appearance on the day and time appointed.
The supreme court shall establish by rule or order a schedule of bail amounts for violations under this title that allow the disposition of a citation without a court appearance. The bail amount may not exceed the maximum penalty prescribed by law for the violation.
