Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 13.16.015
- Decedent: A deceased person.
- Liabilities: The aggregate of all debts and other legal obligations of a particular person or legal entity.
- person: includes a corporation, company, partnership, firm, association, organization, business trust, or society, as well as a natural person. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
Except as otherwise provided in Alaska Stat. Chapter 13.21, to acquire the powers and undertake the duties and liabilities of a personal representative of a decedent, a person must be appointed by order of the court or registrar, qualify, and be issued letters. Administration of an estate is commenced by the issuance of letters.
