(a) A deposit of community property in an account does not alter the community character of the property or community rights in the property, but a right of survivorship between parties married to each other arising from the express terms of the account or Alaska Stat. § 13.33.212 may not be altered by will.

Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 13.33.216

  • property: includes real and personal property. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • Right of survivorship: The ownership rights that result in the acquisition of title to property by reason of having survived other co-owners.
  • Tenancy by the entirety: A type of joint tenancy between husband and wife that is recognized in some States. Neither party can sever the joint tenancy relationship; when a spouse dies, the survivor acquires full title to the property.
(b)Alaska Stat. § 13.33.20113.33.227 do not affect the law governing tenancy by the entirety.
