A cease and desist order pursuant to § 32-7B-17.1 becomes final upon expiration of the time allowed for appeals from the secretary’s order if no appeal is taken, or, if an appeal is taken, upon final decision of the court if the court affirms the secretary’s order or dismisses the appeal.

- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
