Terms Used In 15 Guam Code Ann. § 2557

  • Decedent: A deceased person.
  • Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
  • Probate: Proving a will
  • Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.
  • Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
  • Verdict: The decision of a petit jury or a judge.
judgment against a person who dies after trial and submission of his case to a judge sitting without a jury for decision or after a verdict is not a lien on the real property of the decedent, but is payable in due course of administration.
