- Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
- Summons: Another word for subpoena used by the criminal justice system.
any person summoned as herein provided shall, without reasonable cause, fail to appear, he may be proceeded against for contempt of court. In case the summons cannot be served, or the party served failed to obey the same, or in case when it shall be made to appear to the judge that the service will be ineffectual or that the welfare of the child requires that he be brought forthwith into custody of the court, a warrant or copies may be issued for the parent or guardian or the child.
