(a) Automobile parking space required by this Chapter shall be provided at the time of the erection of any main building or at the time any existing main building is enlarged or increased in

capacity by adding dwelling units, guest rooms or floor area, and such parking space shall thereafter be maintained.

(b) In the case of a dwelling, the automobile parking space shall be on the same lot and may be provided either in a private garage or in a private automobile parking area.

(c) In the case of multi-residential buildings, churches, theaters, clinics, commercial or industrial buildings, the automobile parking space shall be on the same lot or may be provided in a parking garage available to the public or a private parking area adjacent thereto.

(d) Every automobile parking space shall be of the following sizes:

(1) Standard-sized automobile parking spaces shall be at least nineteen feet (19′) in length and eight and one-half feet (8 ½’) in width, with parallel spaces at least twenty-two feet (22′) in length.

(2) Compact spaces shall be at least sixteen feet (16′) in length and seven and one-half feet (7 ½’) in width, with parallel spaces at least nineteen feet (19′) in length.

(3) Minimum aisle widths for parking bays shall be provided in accordance with the following:

80 – 89 , 21,

90 , 22.
