Terms Used In South Carolina Code 46-40-30
- Department: means the South Carolina Department of Agriculture. See South Carolina Code 46-40-20
- Grain: means any feed grains or oil seeds, except cottonseeds, sold by South Carolina grain dealers. See South Carolina Code 46-40-20
- Grain dealer: means any resident licensed by this State engaged in selling grain received from the producer or the producer's agent. See South Carolina Code 46-40-20
An assessment of two cents a bushel must be imposed on all grain handled by grain dealers other than grain for which a prior grain dealer has already paid the assessment. The assessment must be reported and remitted to the department by the grain dealer as of the month in which the grain was delivered to the grain dealer, except as provided by § 46-40-60.
