Under regulations the department promulgates, the director or his designee may, by written order, suspend or modify the requirements of filing as to any kind of insurance, subdivision, or combination thereof or as to classes of risks, the rates for which cannot practicably be filed before they are used. These orders and regulations must be made known to insurers and rating organizations affected thereby. The director or his designee may make any examination he considers advisable to ascertain whether any rates affected by the order meet the standards set forth in § 38-73-330(2) or § 38-73-430(4), as the case may be.
