Terms Used In South Carolina Code 59-19-540

  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Oath: A promise to tell the truth.
  • Testimony: Evidence presented orally by witnesses during trials or before grand juries.
At any hearing provided for in § 59-19-530, the parties may appear in person or through an attorney licensed to practice in South Carolina and may submit such testimony, under oath, or other evidence as may be pertinent to the matter in controversy.
