Terms Used In South Carolina Code 63-7-370
- Child: means a person under the age of eighteen. See South Carolina Code 63-7-20
- Department: means the Department of Social Services. See South Carolina Code 63-7-20
- Suspected report: means all initial reports of child abuse or neglect received pursuant to this chapter. See South Carolina Code 63-7-20
The law enforcement officer upon receipt of a report of domestic violence may report this information to the Department of Social Services. The department may treat the case as suspected report of abuse and may investigate the case as in other allegations of abuse in order to determine if the child has been harmed.
