Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 5:18-a

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • state: when applied to different parts of the United States, may extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4
In addition to any other requirements, no contract for personal services, under which the total of payments equals $2,500 or more, in lump sum or installments, between the state and a nonresident corporation, partnership or association or between the state and a resident doing business under a name other than his own, shall be valid unless the contract shall have attached to it evidence of registration with the secretary of state as required under RSA 293-A, 305-A or 349. This requirement shall not apply to a nonresident corporation not organized for profit, except that each contract between the state and a resident or nonresident corporation, partnership or association shall have attached to the contract evidence of authority of the parties to execute and be bound by the contract.
