Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 294-B:9

  • Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
  • Indictment: The formal charge issued by a grand jury stating that there is enough evidence that the defendant committed the crime to justify having a trial; it is used primarily for felonies.
  • petition: when used in connection with the equity jurisdiction of the superior court, and referring to a document filed with the court, shall mean complaint, and "petitioner" shall mean plaintiff. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:51
When a prosecution is commenced for the violation of any of the provisions of this chapter the attorney-general or county attorney may petition the superior court to enjoin the carrying on of such unlawful business in the place where a complaint, information, or indictment charges that it has been conducted.
