  • Appointing authority: means the presiding justice of any court, the chairman of any board, commission or authority, and the director or commissioner of any department or agency, or any other person presiding at any hearing or other proceeding wherein a qualified interpreter is required pursuant to this chapter. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 521-A:1
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Fixed Rate: Having a "fixed" rate means that the APR doesn't change based on fluctuations of some external rate (such as the "Prime Rate"). In other words, a fixed rate is a rate that is not a variable rate. A fixed APR can change over time, in several circumstances:
    • You are late making a payment or commit some other default, triggering an increase to a penalty rate
    • The bank changes the terms of your account and you do not reject the change.
    • The rate expires (if the rate was fixed for only a certain period of time).
  • Qualified interpreter: means an interpreter licensed under RSA 326-I. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 521-A:1
  • state: when applied to different parts of the United States, may extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4
A qualified interpreter appointed under this chapter shall be reimbursed by the appointing authority at a fixed rate reflecting the most recent fee schedule approved by the department of education, bureau of vocational rehabilitation. Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit any state department, board, commission, agency, or appointing authority, or any political subdivision of the state from employing a qualified interpreter on a full-time basis or under contract at a mutually agreed upon compensation rate.
