Vacancies in the office of town treasurer shall be filled by appointment made by the selectmen except in towns in which, pursuant to N.H. Rev. Stat. § 41:29-a, the treasurer has appointed a deputy treasurer, in which case the deputy shall serve as town treasurer until the next annual town election.
