- Magistrate: shall mean any Supreme Court Justice, Superior judge, District judge, or Probate judge. See
- Oath: A promise to tell the truth.
- Oath: shall include affirmation where by law an affirmation may be substituted. See
- Town: shall include city and wards or precincts therein; "selectboard members" and "board of civil authority" shall extend to and include the mayor and aldermen of cities; "trustees" shall extend to and include bailiffs of incorporated villages; and the laws applicable to the inhabitants and officers of towns shall be applicable to the inhabitants and similar officers of all municipal corporations. § 1172. Assistant clerk; record to county clerk
Such assistant clerk shall deposit with the county clerk a copy of the record of his or her appointment, duly certified by the town clerk making such appointment, and shall also deposit a copy of his or her official oath signed by himself or herself, with a certificate of the magistrate administering the same that he or she has taken such oath.
