- Forgery: The fraudulent signing or alteration of another's name to an instrument such as a deed, mortgage, or check. The intent of the forgery is to deceive or defraud. Source: OCC

§ 1005. Misuse of passport; forgery; penalty
A person who makes any false statement on an application for a passport or who possesses or uses a passport issued to another or falsely makes, alters, forges, or counterfeits a passport shall be fined not more than $500.00 or imprisoned for not more than six months or both. (Added 1973, No. 82.)
