Terms Used In Vermont Statutes Title 12 Sec. 3252

  • Attachment: A procedure by which a person's property is seized to pay judgments levied by the court.
  • Personal property: All property that is not real property.
  • Town: shall include city and wards or precincts therein; "selectboard members" and "board of civil authority" shall extend to and include the mayor and aldermen of cities; "trustees" shall extend to and include bailiffs of incorporated villages; and the laws applicable to the inhabitants and officers of towns shall be applicable to the inhabitants and similar officers of all municipal corporations. § 3252. Recording by clerk

When a copy of a writ of attachment upon which personal property is attached is lodged in the office of a town clerk, he or she shall enter in a book to be kept by him or her, in alphabetical order, the names of the parties, the date of the writ, the time when and the court to which the same is returnable, and the amount demanded.
