Terms Used In Vermont Statutes Title 24 Sec. 1780

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Legislative branch: shall mean the mayor and board of aldermen of a city, the selectboard of a town, the trustees of a village, the board of school directors of a school district, the trustees or prudential committee of a graded school or fire district, and the Board of Governors of the unified towns and gores of Essex County, and, with respect to other municipal corporations, the governing body designated by statute.   • Municipal corporation: shall include a city, town, village, town school district, graded school district, or other incorporated, union, or unified school district or any entity providing educational services which is eligible to receive State aid under 16 Vt. See
  • Municipality: shall include a city, town, town school district, incorporated school or fire district or incorporated village, and all other governmental incorporated units. See

§ 1780. Certificate of registration indorsed; when

When it shall be determined by a municipal corporation to issue registered bonds, the legislative branch of the municipal corporation shall direct the treasurer of such municipal corporation to indorse upon the back of each of such bonds over his or her official signature a certificate of registration in substantially the form hereinafter provided, inserting in the appropriate places the date of such registration, the name and address of the registered holder, and his or her own signature as transfer agent. Thereafter such bond shall be transferable only upon the books of such municipality upon presentation to the treasurer thereof with a written assignment duly acknowledged or proved.
