- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- State: means the State of Vermont; a county, a municipality, or other subdivision thereof; commission, board, department, or agency thereof; or any other governmental entity authorized or created by State law, including public corporations and authorities. See
§ 504. Fines paid to Superior Court clerk
Damages and costs received in actions to which the State is a party, and fines and the amount of bonds and recognizances to the State taken in any county, shall be paid to the Superior Court clerk. His or her receipt shall be the only valid discharge thereof and he or she shall pay the same into the State Treasury. (Amended 1969, No. 131, § 29, eff. April 23, 1969; 2009, No. 154 (Adj.
