See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A financial institution: means any bank, trust company, national banking association, savings bank, savings and loan association, federal savings and loan association, industrial bank, mortgage company, insurance company, credit union, local development corporation or any other institution or entity authorized to do business in this State, or any state or federal agency which customarily provides financing assistance. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Financial interest: means holding a position in a business as an officer, director, trustee, member or partner or any position in management or ownership of more than 5% interest in the business. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1391 Fineness: means the percentage by weight of the material which will pass federal standard sieves of specified sizes. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 762 Fishing enterprise: means knowledge, skill or labor applied to growing or catching fish, including shellfish, in fresh or salt water, including aquaculture, and includes production, processing, storing, packaging or marketing products derived from fishing enterprises. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Fixed Rate: Having a "fixed" rate means that the APR doesn't change based on fluctuations of some external rate (such as the "Prime Rate"). In other words, a fixed rate is a rate that is not a variable rate. A fixed APR can change over time, in several circumstances: Floor leaders: The Majority Leader and Minority Leader are elected by their respective party conferences to serve as the chief Senate spokesmen for their parties and to manage and schedule the legislative and executive business of the Senate. By custom, the Presiding Officer gives the floor leaders priority in obtaining recognition to speak on the floor of the Senate. Foreclosure: A legal process in which property that is collateral or security for a loan may be sold to help repay the loan when the loan is in default. Source: OCC Foreign country: means a country, including a political subdivision thereof, other than the United States, that under its law authorizes the issuance of support orders and:
- You are late making a payment or commit some other default, triggering an increase to a penalty rate
- The bank changes the terms of your account and you do not reject the change.
- The rate expires (if the rate was fixed for only a certain period of time).
A. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 2802Forest land owners: means persons who own forest lands. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 8423-A Forest management plan: means a site-specific document signed by a professional forester outlining proposed activities to ensure compliance with performance standards and regeneration requirements established pursuant to this subchapter. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 8868 Forest products: means logs, pulpwood, veneer, bolt wood, wood chips, stud wood, poles, pilings, biomass fuel wood, fuel wood, bark or other products commonly known as forest products, but does not include Christmas trees, maple syrup, nursery products used for ornamental purposes, wreaths, bough material, cones or other seed crops. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 8881 Franchise: means an oral or written arrangement for a definite or indefinite period pursuant to which a manufacturer grants to a dealer or distributor of goods a license to use a trade name, trademark, service mark or related characteristic and in which there is a community of interest in the marketing of goods and related services at wholesale, retail, by leasing or otherwise. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1361 Franchisee: means a person, dealer or distributor of goods located within this State to whom a franchise is offered or granted. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1361 Franchisor: means a manufacturer who grants a franchise to a distributor or dealer of goods. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1361 Full-time deputy: means a deputy who is compensated under section 386, subsection 1, and who is employed in county law enforcement for at least 40 hours a week. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 351 Full-time student: means a person who meets the requirements for a full-time student set out in rules adopted by the board. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 17001 Fully marketable form: means a municipal security duly executed and accompanied by an approving legal opinion of a bond counsel of recognized standing in the field of municipal law whose opinions are generally accepted by purchasers of municipal bonds, provided that the municipal security so executed need not be printed or lithographed nor be in more than one denomination. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 5903 Fund for a Healthy Maine: whenever used in this chapter , mean the Other Special Revenue account within the Department of Administrative and Financial Services established pursuant to Title 22, section 1511. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 1661 Funded debt: means an obligation for the payment of which some fund is set aside. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 2001 Funeral establishment: means every place or premises devoted to or used in the care and preparation for the funeral and burial of human remains or maintained for the convenience of the bereaved for viewing or other services in connection with the human remains or as the office or place for carrying on the profession of funeral service. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 1400 Funeral service profession: means the aggregate of all funeral service licensees and their duties and responsibilities in connection with the funeral as an organized, purposeful, time limited, flexible, group centered response to death. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 1400 Garnishment: Generally, garnishment is a court proceeding in which a creditor asks a court to order a third party who owes money to the debtor or otherwise holds assets belonging to the debtor to turn over to the creditor any of the debtor General fund: means the fund created or established as provided in section 6007. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 5903 General Fund revenue shortfall: means the amount by which the General Fund appropriation limitation established by section 1534 exceeds baseline General Fund revenue and other available resources in each state fiscal year. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 1531 Generally accepted accounting principles: means uniform minimum standards and guidelines for financial accounting and reporting ordinarily employed by skilled accountants and agreed upon by authoritative practitioners of recognized professional standing, such as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and other recognized professional bodies. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 1660-D Ginseng: means any part of the plant known as Wild American Ginseng (Panax quinquefolius 1). See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 2221 Good faith: means honesty in fact and the observance of reasonable commercial standards of fair dealing in the trade as defined and interpreted in the Uniform Commercial Code, Title 11, section 1?1201, subsection (20). See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1361 Goods: means residential, recreational, agricultural, farm, commercial or business equipment, machinery or appliances that use electricity, gas, wood, a petroleum product or a derivative of a petroleum product for operation. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1361 Government auditing standards: means auditing standards promulgated by the Comptroller General of the United States that are applicable to financial audits. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 1660-D Governmental plan: has the meaning given under Section 3(32) of the federal Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 or any federal governmental employee plan. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 2848 Governmental unit: means any county, municipality, school administrative district, community school district, public waste disposal corporation as authorized under Title 38, section 1304?B or other quasi-municipal corporation within the State, including any corporation owned entirely by a municipality and providing water, sewer or electric service or performing other essential governmental functions. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 5903 Governor-elect: whenever used in this chapter and chapter 145, shall be held to mean the candidate most recently elected to the office of Governor of the State of Maine in the November election for choice of Governor, or his successor. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 1661 Grace period: The number of days you'll have to pay your bill for purchases in full without triggering a finance charge. Source: Federal Reserve Grade: means any commercial fertilizer having a specific minimum percentage of plant nutrients that is the same as the guaranteed analysis, expressed in whole numbers. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 742 Grand jury: agreement providing that a lender will delay exercising its rights (in the case of a mortgage, Grantee: means the person to whom a freehold estate or interest in land is conveyed. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72 Grantor: The person who establishes a trust and places property into it. Grantor: means the person who conveys a freehold estate or interest in land. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72 Greenhouse: means a structure covered with glass, plastic, fiberglass or other transparent material in which plants are cultivated in a controlled environment. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 2211 Group: means any of the types of groups under sections 2804 to 2808. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 2848 Grower licensee: means a person licensed pursuant to subsection 4. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 2231 Guaranteed analysis: means the minimum percentage of plant nutrients claimed in the following order and form:
Total Nitrogen (N) . See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 742Harvest operation: means a harvest of forest products on land in a single municipality or township. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 8881 Harvester: means a person, firm, company, corporation or other legal entity which harvests or contracts to harvest a forest product. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 8881 Health care provider: means an appropriately licensed, certified or registered provider of mental or physical health care, in either the public or private sector. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 17001 health insurance: means insurance of human beings against bodily injury, disablement or death by accident or accidental means, or the expense thereof, or against disablement or expense resulting from sickness, and every insurance appertaining thereto, including provision for the mental and emotional welfare of human beings by defraying the costs of legal services only to the extent provided for in chapter 38. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 704 Helper electrician: means a person licensed to make electrical installations in the employment of a licensed master electrician, limited electrician or electrical company and under the direct supervision of a licensed master, journeyman or limited electrician but who does not qualify under subsection 1. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 1101 Hemp: includes agricultural commodities and products derived from hemp and topical or ingestible consumer products, including food, food additives and food products derived from hemp, which in their final forms contain a delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 2231 Hereditary disorder: means an abnormality that is genetically transmitted from parent to offspring and may cause illness or disease. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 3153 High magnesium: means lime designated as high-mag or dolomitic which must contain at least 5% magnesium. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 2102Hydrated lime: means a material, made from burnt lime, which consists essentially of calcium hydroxide or a combination of calcium hydroxide with magnesium oxide and magnesium hydroxide. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 762 Identity history summary: means a summary of information retained by the Federal Bureau of Investigation or other designee with similar authority in connection with arrests and, in some instances, federal employment, naturalization or military service. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 3842 Immediate family member: includes stepparents, stepchildren, stepsiblings and adoptive relationships. Improper invoice: means an invoice which is:

Income supplementation programs: means programs designed to supplement the income of a person or family and includes Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, food distribution, general assistance, supplemental security income or any other income related program utilizing state-administered funds. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 1642 Indemnification: In general, a collateral contract or assurance under which one person agrees to secure another person against either anticipated financial losses or potential adverse legal consequences. Source: FDIC Independent public accountant: means a person who complies with government auditing standards and who is one of the following:

See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 1660-DIndictment: The formal charge issued by a grand jury stating that there is enough evidence that the defendant committed the crime to justify having a trial; it is used primarily for felonies. Individual: means a natural person. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 9-A Sec. 13-102 Individualized education program team: means the group of individuals composed in accordance with Part B of the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, 20 United States Code § 1414(d)(1)(B) to determine the individualized education program for a child with a disability. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 7001 Indoor facility: means a building, greenhouse, cold frame, hoop house, high tunnel, floating row cover or other agricultural or horticultural method of extending the growing season by enclosing the growing area. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 2231 Industrial by-product: means any industrial waste or by-product containing calcium or calcium and magnesium in forms that will neutralize soil acidity. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 762 Industrial enterprise: means knowledge, skill or labor applied to conduct of a trade or business, selling of goods, providing services, providing dwelling accommodations, mining, education or discovery, research, development or refinement of new or known substances, processes or products. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Infected person: means a person who is diagnosed as having a communicable disease or who, after appropriate medical evaluation or testing, is determined to harbor an infectious agent. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 801 Information broker: means a person who, for monetary fees or dues, engages in whole or in part in the business of collecting, assembling, evaluating, compiling, reporting, transmitting, transferring or communicating information concerning individuals for the primary purpose of furnishing personal information to nonaffiliated 3rd parties. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1347 Ingredient form: means the chemical compound such as salt, chelate, oxide, acid, etc. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 776 Insured: means any individual, partnership, corporation, association or other entity which is the beneficiary of a loan insurance agreement with the authority. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Insured certificate: means a certificate evidencing fractional undivided ownership interest in a pool of mortgage loans, each of which is insured by the authority pursuant to this chapter, that is insured by the authority pursuant to and subject to the limitations of section 1026?E. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Intangible property: Property that has no intrinsic value, but is merely the evidence of value such as stock certificates, bonds, and promissory notes. Integrated pest management: means the selection, integration and implementation of pest damage prevention and control based on predicted socioeconomic and ecological consequences, including:

See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 2401Intelligence: means the collection, storage, retrieval, analysis and use of information about persons known to be repeatedly violating the criminal law in a manner difficult to detect as part of a covertly planned, deliberate or organized attempt to undertake criminal acts. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 451 Interest: means interest from the effective date of a corporate action until the date of payment, at the rate of interest on judgments in this State on the effective date of the corporate action. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 13-C Sec. 1301 Interest rate: The amount paid by a borrower to a lender in exchange for the use of the lender's money for a certain period of time. Interest is paid on loans or on debt instruments, such as notes or bonds, either at regular intervals or as part of a lump sum payment when the issue matures. Source: OCC Interest rate swap agreement: means a financial agreement as defined by the Finance Authority of Maine by rule in accordance with the Maine Administrative Procedure Act, Title 5, chapter 375. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Interested person: means a person, or an affiliate of a person, who at any time during the one-year period immediately preceding approval by the board of directors of the corporate action:
(1) Was the beneficial owner of 20% or more of the voting power of the corporation, other than as owner of excluded shares;
(2) Had the power, contractually or otherwise, other than as owner of excluded shares, to cause the appointment or election of 25% or more of the directors to the board of directors of the corporation; or
(3) Was a senior executive or director of the corporation or a senior executive of any affiliate thereof and will receive, as a result of the corporate action, a financial benefit not generally available to other shareholders as such, other than:
(a) Employment, consulting, retirement or similar benefits established separately and not as part of or in contemplation of the corporate action;
(b) Employment, consulting, retirement or similar benefits established in contemplation of, or as part of, the corporate action that are not more favorable than those existing before the corporate action or, if more favorable, that have been approved on behalf of the corporation in the same manner as is provided in section 873; or
(c) In the case of a director of the corporation who will, in the corporate action, become a director of the acquiring entity in the corporate action or one of its affiliates, rights and benefits as a director that are provided on the same basis as those afforded by the acquiring entity generally to other directors of the entity or the affiliate. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 13-C Sec. 1301Interested transaction: means a corporate action described in section 1302, subsection 1, other than a merger pursuant to section 1105, involving an interested person in which any of the shares or assets of the corporation are being acquired or converted. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 13-C Sec. 1301 Interjurisdictional practice certificate: means a certificate issued by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards that grants temporary authorization to practice based on notification to the state psychology regulatory authority of intention to practice temporarily and verifies the qualifications for such practice. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 3842 Intermediate educational unit: means an entity that meets the definition of intermediate educational unit in the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, 20 United States Code § 1402, (23) as in effect prior to June 4, 1997 and that is a public authority, other than a local educational agency, under the general supervision of the department, that is established for the purpose of providing free public education on a regional basis and that provides special education and related services to children with disabilities within the State. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 7001 Investigation: means the inquiry about, or examination or observation of, persons or objects to gather evidence concerning unlawful acts or the apprehension of wrongdoers. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 451 Invitation to bid: means a written solicitation or invitation by a distributor to one or more exhibitors to bid for the right to exhibit a motion picture. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1901 Irrevocable trust: A trust arrangement that cannot be revoked, rescinded, or repealed by the grantor. Jail: means a specially constructed or modified facility designated by law or regularly used for detention for a period of up to 12 months. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 451 Joint tenancy: A form of property ownership in which two or more parties hold an undivided interest in the same property that was conveyed under the same instrument at the same time. A joint tenant can sell his (her) interest but not dispose of it by will. Upon the death of a joint tenant, his (her) undivided interest is distributed among the surviving joint tenants. Journeyman electrician: means a person licensed to make electrical installations in the employment and under the indirect supervision of a licensed master electrician, limited electrician or electrical company. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 1101 Journeyman plumber: means any person who customarily performs the work of installing plumbing and drainage under the employment and direction of a master plumber or, not being a master plumber, does plumbing repair work as a regular part-time occupation. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 3301 Journeyman-in-training: means a person who is licensed under this chapter to assist in making plumbing installations under the direct supervision of a journeyman plumber or a master plumber who may not act as or represent that the person is a journeyman plumber, as defined in subsection 3. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 3301 Journeyman-in-training electrician: means a person making electrical installations in the employment of a licensed master electrician, limited electrician or electrical company and under the indirect supervision of a licensed limited or master electrician. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 1101 Judgement: The official decision of a court finally determining the respective rights and claims of the parties to a suit. Jurisprudence: The study of law and the structure of the legal system. Juror: A person who is on the jury. Juvenile services: means the personnel, procedures and services provided to deal with delinquents or criminal offenders under 18 years of age. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 451 key participant: means a person who, as determined by the commissioner by rule, has a direct or indirect financial interest in an entity producing hemp, such as an owner or partner in a partnership. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 2231 Kindergarten: means a one-year or 2-year childhood education program, for children at least 5 years of age, immediately prior to grade one. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1 Label: means any written or printed matter on or attached to the package or on the delivery ticket which accompanies bulk shipments. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 762 Label: means any written, printed or graphic matter upon the immediate container or accompanying a plant or soil amendment. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 776 Labeling: means any written, printed or graphic matter, upon or accompanying any plant or soil amendment, or advertisements, brochures, posters or television or radio announcements used in promoting the sale of the plant or soil amendment. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 776 Laboratory services: means those services which concern the testing or analyzing of physical evidence, by chemical or physical science methods and techniques, in order to determine its properties, composition, attributes or other information required for law enforcement purposes. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 451 Land management road: means a road constructed and used primarily for agricultural or forest management activities. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 8868 Landowner: means a person, company or other entity that holds title to land, including joint owners or tenants in common. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 8881 Last known address: means that address provided by the occupant in the rental agreement or the address provided by the occupant in a subsequent written notice of a change of address. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1372 Late fee: means any fee or charge assessed for an occupant's failure to pay rent when due. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1372 Law enforcement functions: means functions or services related to law enforcement, including patrol, laboratory services, intelligence, investigation, juvenile services, emergency services, detention and communications, whether or not those services are administered or directed through the sheriff's department or municipal police departments. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 451 Lease: means a contract providing for the use of a project or portions of a project for a term of years for a designated or determinable rent. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Leased space: means the individual storage space at the self-service facility which is rented to an occupant under a rental agreement. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1372 Legal funding: means a transaction in which a company makes a cash payment to a consumer in exchange for the right to receive an amount out of the potential proceeds of any realized settlement, judgment, award or verdict the consumer may receive in a civil claim or action. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 9-A Sec. 12-102 Legislative session: That part of a chamber's daily session in which it considers legislative business (bills, resolutions, and actions related thereto). Legislative subcommittee: means 3 or more Legislators from a legislative committee appointed for the purpose of conducting legislative business on behalf of the committee. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 402 Lessee: means a tenant under a lease and may include an installment purchaser. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Level II fieldwork: means the experience required to prepare occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant students to carry out professional responsibilities under appropriate supervision and professional role modeling. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 2272 Liability: means the obligation to pay a judgment, settlement, penalty, fine, including an excise tax assessed with respect to an employee benefit plan, or expenses incurred with respect to a proceeding. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 13-C Sec. 851 license: is a n authorization to practice nursing as a professional nurse, practical nurse or advanced practice registered nurse. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 2102 License: means authorization to practice podiatric medicine. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 3551 License: means authorization by a state psychology regulatory authority to engage in the independent practice of psychology. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 3842 License agreement: means any contract agreement, understanding or condition between a distributor and an exhibitor relating to the licensing or exhibition of a motion picture by the exhibitor. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1901 Licensed camping facility: means a recreational camp, youth camp or camping area licensed under Title 22, section 2495. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 9001-A licensed practical nurse: means an individual who is currently licensed under this chapter and who practices practical nursing as defined in subsection 3. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 2102 lienholder of record: means a person who claims an interest in or lien on the property pursuant to a financing statement filed with the Secretary of State or other public filing. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1382 Limestone: means a material capable of neutralizing soil acidity, consisting essentially of calcium carbonate or a combination of calcium carbonate with magnesium carbonate. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 762 Limited electrician: means a person licensed to make electrical installations limited to a specific type of electrically operated equipment or to specific electrical installations only authorized by this license. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 1101 Limited license: means a limited plumber's license to install and service plumbing work related to a specific type of plumbing equipment or to specific plumbing installations granted to any person who has passed a satisfactory examination before the board. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 3301 Liquidation harvesting: means the purchase of timberland followed by a harvest that removes most or all commercial value in standing timber, without regard for long-term forest management principles, and the subsequent sale or attempted resale of the harvested land within 5 years. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 8868 Litigation: A case, controversy, or lawsuit. Participants (plaintiffs and defendants) in lawsuits are called litigants. Litigation funding provider: means a person or entity, wherever located, that provides legal funding to a consumer. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 9-A Sec. 12-102 Loan: means an extension of credit made in consideration of a written promise of repayment or any other conditions that may be established by the authority, performance of which may be secured by mortgage. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Loan insurance agreement: means an agreement pursuant to which the authority insures payment of a loan pursuant to subchapter 2, and also means an agreement pursuant to which the authority insures or guarantees an insured certificate, if the authority's loan insurance liability for insuring an insured certificate is in lieu of and not in addition to its liability for insuring that portion of a mortgage loan represented by the insured certificate. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Loan Insurance Program: means the program governed by subchapter 2. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Loan payments: means payments required by or received on account of a mortgage or any other financial document, including, but not limited to, payments covering interest, installments of principal, taxes, assessments, loan insurance premiums and hazard insurance premiums. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Loan processor or underwriter: means an individual who performs clerical or support duties as an employee at the direction of and subject to the supervision and instruction of a person licensed or exempt from licensing under the provisions of this Title. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 9-A Sec. 13-102 Local development corporation: means a nonprofit corporation established under Title 13, chapter 81; Title 13?B; or other law acceptable to the authority and empowered to foster, encourage and assist any eligible enterprise. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Local health officer: means a person who is a municipal official appointed pursuant to section 451 and who is authorized by the department to enforce this chapter. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 801 Location information: means a consumer's place of residence and the consumer's telephone numbers at that location and at the consumer's place of employment. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 9-A Sec. 11-105 Lock-up: means a facility designated by law or regularly used for detention for a temporary period before trial or transfer to a jail or other facility. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 451 Lump-sum sale: means a sale in which the owner of standing timber sells the timber for one price and that price is not broken down by species or product. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 8881 Maine Job-start Program: means the program governed by subchapter VII. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Maine-based employer: means an employer with a principal place of business located in this State. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 3702 Management program: means all activities undertaken by the Bureau of Forestry in connection with the short-term and long-term management of spruce budworm infestations, including, without limitation, any activities undertaken in connection with spruce budworm survey and detection activities, targeting silvicultural and integrated pest management programs, research, methods development and related activities and any involvement in any spray activities. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 8423-A Manufacturer: means a person, partnership, firm, association, corporation or trust, resident or nonresident, who manufactures, assembles or imports goods for distribution through distributors or a partnership, firm, association, joint venture, corporation or trust, resident or nonresident, that is controlled by such an entity. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1361 Manufacturing enterprise: means knowledge, skill or labor applied to giving of new shapes, new qualities or new combinations to matter as material products and includes assembling, fabricating, making, creating, working, preparing, milling, processing, recycling, manufacturing, finishing, fashioning, producing, storing, warehousing, preserving, distributing, handling or transporting in any manner goods, wares, merchandise, metals, fabrics, materials, substances, product or matter of any kind or nature including materials recovered from solid and hazardous wastes. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Marl: means a granular or loosely consolidated loam composed largely of clays, sea shell fragments and carbonates of calcium and magnesium. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 762 Mass marketing plan: means a method of selling property and casualty insurance wherein such insurance is offered to employees of particular employers or to members of particular associations or organizations or to persons grouped in other ways and the employer, association or organization has agreed to or otherwise affiliated itself with, or facilitated, the sale of such insurance to its employees or members and employees and includes without limitation such plans whether described as "mass merchandising" "group merchandising" "franchise merchandising" or "collective merchandising. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 2932 Master electrician: means a licensed person qualified under this chapter to engage in the business of installing electrical wires, conduits, apparatus, fixtures and other electrical equipment. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 1101 Master plumber: means any individual qualified under this chapter engaging in or about to engage in the business of installing plumbing or plumbing systems. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 3301 Material financial interest: means a financial interest in a transaction that would reasonably be expected to impair the objectivity of the director's judgment when participating in action on the authorization of the transaction. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 13-C Sec. 871 Maturity date: means the date on which final payment is due as provided in a note, revenue obligation security or other financial document. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Median household income: means the income computed based on the most current census information available, as provided by the State Economist. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 5903 Medical review service provider: means an entity with whom the chief executive officer has contracted for the review of medical records and the provision of recommendations, opinions and certifications under this Part by health care providers employed by the entity. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 17001 Membership: means active participation in the program of a school from the date of enrollment to the time the student withdraws or is absent from the school for 10 consecutive days for reasons other than illness. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 15001 Mental illness: means a clinically significant behavioral or psychological syndrome or pattern that occurs in an individual and that is typically associated with either a painful symptom or impairment in one or more important areas of functioning. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 3811-A Merchant: means a person who regularly provides the use of property through rental-purchase agreements and to whom rental payments are initially payable on the face of the rental-purchase agreement. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 9-A Sec. 11-105 merchant cost: means the bona fide actual cost, including freight charges, of the rental property paid by the merchant to a wholesaler, distributor, manufacturer or other provider, net of volume rebates, discounts or other incentives received by the merchant at the time the merchant purchased the item. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 9-A Sec. 11-105 Minority: when used in reference to age shall mean under the age of 18. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 3551 Pollution-control project: means any building, structure, machinery, equipment or facility, including transportation, equipment or facility, which may be deemed necessary for preventing, avoiding, reducing, controlling, abating or eliminating contamination, solid waste, thermal pollution or pollution by any other means of the air, water or earth, together with all land, property, rights, rights-of-way, franchises, easements and interests in lands necessary or convenient for the construction or operation of the project. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A practical nursing: means performing tasks and responsibilities, by a licensed practical nurse, for compensation within a structured health care setting, reinforcing the patient and family teaching program through health teaching, health counseling and provision of supportive and restorative care, under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed or otherwise legally authorized physician, podiatrist or dentist. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 1251 Practitioner trainee: means a person who is engaged in preparing to become licensed for the practice of funeral service under the personal supervision and instruction of a person duly licensed for the practice of funeral service, and who is duly registered as such and approved by the board. Probable cause: A reasonable ground for belief that the offender violated a specific law. Probate: Proving a will Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed. Proceeding: means any threatened, pending or completed action, suit or proceeding, whether civil, criminal, administrative, arbitrative or investigative and whether formal or informal. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 13-C Sec. 851 Professional: when used with reference to office space, means professions or professionals regulated or licensed under applicable state law. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Professional engineer: means a person who, by reason of a knowledge of mathematics, the physical sciences and the principles of engineering, acquired by professional education and practical experience, is qualified to engage in engineering practice as defined. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 1251 Professional forester: means a person licensed pursuant to Title 32, chapter 76. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 8868 professional nursing: means the performance by a registered professional nurse for compensation of professional services defined as follows:
A. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 2102Project: means any eligible project. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Proper identification: means that information generally considered sufficient to identify a person. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1308 Proper invoice: means an invoice for property, products or services deemed to be satisfactory in quality and quantity, in conformance with the request of the state agency and on which the amount due has been correctly calculated. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 1552 Property: means a boat, boat motor or boat trailer in storage at a facility. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1382 Property: means animals, inanimate objects, vessels, public conveyances, buildings and all other real or personal property. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 801 Property insurance: means all contracts of insurance covered by section 705. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 2932 Prosecute: To charge someone with a crime. A prosecutor tries a criminal case on behalf of the government. Protected consumer: means an individual who has not attained 16 years of age at the time a request for the placement of a security freeze is made. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1308 Provider: means a person that provides consumer arbitration or services related to consumer arbitration. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1391 Psychologist: means an individual licensed for the independent practice of psychology. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 3842 Public: means a municipal, county or other governmental body that is a political subdivision within the State. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 1660-D Public access officer: means the person designated pursuant to section 413, subsection 1. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 402public records: means any written, printed or graphic matter or any mechanical or electronic data compilation from which information can be obtained, directly or after translation into a form susceptible of visual or aural comprehension, that is in the possession or custody of an agency or public official of this State or any of its political subdivisions, or is in the possession or custody of an association, the membership of which is composed exclusively of one or more of any of these entities, and has been received or prepared for use in connection with the transaction of public or governmental business or contains information relating to the transaction of public or governmental business, except:

Real estate brokerage activity: means any activity that involves offering or providing real estate brokerage services to the public, including:
A. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 9-A Sec. 13-102Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land. Reasonable office hours: includes all regular office hours of an agency or official. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 402 Receiving state: means a compact state where the client is physically located when telepsychological services are delivered. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 3842 Record shareholder: means a person in whose name shares are registered in the records of a corporation or the beneficial owner of shares to the extent of the rights granted by a nominee certificate on file with the corporation. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 7001 Renewal: means to issue and deliver at the end of an insurance policy period a policy that supersedes a policy previously issued and delivered by the same insurer or an affiliated insurer and that provides types and limits of coverage substantially similar to those contained in the policy being superseded. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 963-A Rental agreement: means any written agreement that establishes or modifies the terms, conditions or rules concerning the use and occupancy of a self-service storage facility. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1372 Rental payment: means a payment to be made by a consumer for the right of possession and use of rental property for a specific rental period, but does not include taxes imposed on such payment. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 9-A Sec. 11-105 Rental period: means a week, month or other specific period of time during which the consumer has a right to possess and use the property after making the rental payment and applicable tax payment for such period.
