- AADT: means the average annual daily traffic as determined by the department using accepted engineering practices. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 562
- Abuse: means the occurrence of the following acts:
A. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 4102Access roads: means any and all roads or highways in the state highway system, including bridges, overpasses and underpasses, which directly or indirectly connect with the turnpike and which shall have been designated as such by the Department of Transportation. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72 Advertising: means any written, electronic or printed communication or any communication by means of recorded telephone messages or transmitted on radio, television, the Internet or a similar communications medium, including film strips, motion pictures and videos, published, disseminated, circulated or placed before the public, directly or indirectly, for the purpose of creating an interest in or inducing a person to sell a life insurance policy pursuant to a settlement contract. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 6802-A Advisory committee: means the Right To Know Advisory Committee established in Title 5, section 12004?J, subsection 14 and described in section 411. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 431 Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths. Affiliated company: means any company in the same corporate system as a parent or a member organization by virtue of common ownership, control, operation or management. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 6701 Affiliated unit: means a school administrative unit that is affiliated with another school administrative unit that operates a center. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 8301-A Affirmed: In the practice of the appellate courts, the decree or order is declared valid and will stand as rendered in the lower court. agency: shall mean a state department, agency, office, board, commission; or quasi-independent agency, board, commission, authority or institution. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 501 Agency: means an agency, school, organization, facility or institution. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 7001 Agent: means an individual appointed to serve in the capacity of a superintendent. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1 Agent: means any person who sells or distributes potatoes or rotation crops in commerce for or on behalf of producers or others and whose operations may include the planting, cultivating, harvesting, grading, packing and furnishing containers, supplies or other services. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 1012 Aggregator site: means a website that provides access to information regarding insurance products from more than one insurer, including product and insurer information, for use in comparison shopping. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7052-A Agricultural liming material: means a product whose calcium and magnesium compounds are capable of neutralizing soil acidity. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 762 Agricultural products: include floricultural, horticultural, viticultural, forestry, nut, dairy, livestock, poultry, bee and any farm products. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 13 Sec. 1774 Allegation: something that someone says happened. Allocated parental rights and responsibilities: means that responsibilities for the various aspects of a child's welfare are divided between the parents, with the parent allocated a particular responsibility having the right to control that aspect of the child's welfare. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 1501 Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it. Amortization: Paying off a loan by regular installments. an event the result of which is determined by chance: includes but is not limited to a shuffle of a deck or decks of cards, a roll of a die or dice or a random drawing or generation of an object or objects that may include, but are not limited to, a card or cards, a die or dice, a number or numbers or simulations of any of these. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 17-A Sec. 952 Annual base compensation: means a member's gross compensation, based upon amounts reported by the member's employer on the member's previous year's federal wage and tax statement, that is used the first day of each April for setting the amount of coverage prior to retirement for participants in the group life insurance program administered by the board. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 17001 Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant. Appellate: About appeals; an appellate court has the power to review the judgement of another lower court or tribunal. Applicant: means any person applying for a license under this Article. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 1012 Appraisal: A determination of property value. Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization arrangement: means an employer welfare benefit plan or any other arrangement that is established or maintained for the purpose of offering or providing health benefits to the employees of 2 or more employers or to their beneficiaries. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 6601 Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority. Articles: means the articles of incorporation. Authority: means the Maine Turnpike Authority, created by Private and Special Law 1941, chapter 69, and continued in existence by this chapter. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 1964 Authorized inspector: means a person holding a license to inspect boilers and pressure vessels within this State issued under section 15120. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 17001Away agency: means a tolling authority in a jurisdiction other than the State that imposes an administrative fee or a civil liability on the registered owner of a vehicle whose operator fails to pay a required toll for the use of a highway, bridge or tunnel. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 1964 Bail: Security given for the release of a criminal defendant or witness from legal custody (usually in the form of money) to secure his/her appearance on the day and time appointed. Bank: means the Maine Municipal Bond Bank, established under Title 30-A, chapter 225. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 1611 Bankruptcy: Refers to statutes and judicial proceedings involving persons or businesses that cannot pay their debts and seek the assistance of the court in getting a fresh start. Under the protection of the bankruptcy court, debtors may discharge their debts, perhaps by paying a portion of each debt. Bankruptcy judges preside over these proceedings. Baseline: Projection of the receipts, outlays, and other budget amounts that would ensue in the future without any change in existing policy. Baseline projections are used to gauge the extent to which proposed legislation, if enacted into law, would alter current spending and revenue levels. Basic support entitlement: means the sum derived from the child support table appropriate for each child and the parties' gross income. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 2001 Beneficiary: A person who is entitled to receive the benefits or proceeds of a will, trust, insurance policy, retirement plan, annuity, or other contract. Source: OCC Beneficiary: means a person or persons designated by a member to receive a benefit under this Part or a person otherwise entitled to receive a benefit under this Part. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 17001 Benefit: means any payment made, or required to be made, to a beneficiary under chapter 423, subchapter V or chapter 425, subchapter V. Blanket travel insurance: means a policy of group travel insurance that provides coverage for specific classes of persons defined in the policy under which coverage is provided to all members of the eligible group without a separate charge to individual members of the eligible group. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 762 Cancellation fee waiver: means a contractual agreement between a supplier of travel services and its customer to waive some or all of the nonrefundable cancellation fee provisions of the supplier's underlying travel contract with or without regard to the reason for the cancellation or form of reimbursement. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7052-A Capital improvement: includes construction of new structures, replacement of existing structures, removal of closed structures and rehabilitation of existing structures. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7402Career and technical education: means a course or program of education designed to create or improve job-related skills that is part of a secondary school or middle school level curriculum and approved by the commissioner according to this chapter. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 8301-A Center: means an administrative entity established pursuant to this chapter that provides career and technical education to secondary students and middle school level students. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 17001 Child care costs: means the actual child care costs incurred by the parties for each child for whom support is being established that are related to that party's employment, education or training and are reasonable or customary in the area in which that party resides. Code: means the boiler and pressure vessel code of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and amendments and interpretations made and approved by the council of the society. A. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 1964Dependent: A person dependent for support upon another. Deputy inspector: means a person, employed by the State and supervised by the chief inspector, authorized to inspect boilers and pressure vessels within this State. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 15101 Deputy inspector: means an individual in the employ of the State whose duties include the examination and inspection of elevators and tramways under the direction of the chief inspector. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 15202 Designated responsible producer: means the individual licensed producer responsible for ensuring compliance by the supervising travel insurance producer and its registrants with travel insurance laws and rules of the State. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7052-A Detour length: means the shortest distance measured along a public way from one abutment of a bridge to the other abutment that would result if the bridge were closed. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 562 Devise: To gift property by will. Digital network: means any online-enabled application, software, website or system offered or used by a transportation network company that enables the provision of prearranged rides by transportation network company drivers. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7302 Direct supervision: means that a helper is working in the presence of a licensed elevator or lift mechanic at all times. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 15202 Director: means the Director of the Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation within the department. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 15101 Director: means the Director of the Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation within the department. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 15202 Discovery: Lawyers' examination, before trial, of facts and documents in possession of the opponents to help the lawyers prepare for trial. Dismissal: The dropping of a case by the judge without further consideration or hearing. Source: Displaced person: means :
(1) Any person who moves from real property or moves that person's personal property from real property:
(a) As a direct result of a written notice of intent to acquire or the acquisition of that real property in whole or in part for a program or project undertaken by the department; or
(b) On which the person is a residential tenant or conducts a small business, a farm operation or a business defined in subsection 2, as a direct result of rehabilitation, demolition or such other displacing activity as the department prescribes under a program or project undertaken by the department in any case in which the department determines that the displacement is permanent; and
(2) Solely for the purposes of section 243 and section 244, subsections 1 and 2, any person who moves from real property or moves that person's personal property from real property: Provide emergency services: means to respond to and manage other public safety emergencies, including, but not limited to, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents or natural or man-made disasters. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 3151 Provider: means a person who is contractually obligated to a service contract holder under the terms of a service contract. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7102 Provider: means a person that facilitates peer-to-peer car sharing through the ownership and operation of a peer-to-peer car sharing program. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7402 Provider fee: means the consideration paid for a service contract. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7102 Public access officer: means the person designated pursuant to section 413, subsection 1. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 402 Public law: A public bill or joint resolution that has passed both chambers and been enacted into law. Public laws have general applicability nationwide. public proceedings: as used in this subchapter means the transactions of any functions affecting any or all citizens of the State by any of the following:
(a) As a direct result of a written notice of intent to acquire or the acquisition of other real property, in whole or in part, on which the person conducts a business or farm operation, for a program or project undertaken by the department; or
(b) As a direct result of rehabilitation, demolition or such other displacing activity as the department prescribes of other real property on which the person conducts a business or a farm operation, under a program or project undertaken by the department where the department determines that the displacement is permanent. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 762 Distributor: means any person who distributes. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 776 Docket: A log containing brief entries of court proceedings. Documentary material: shall include the original or a copy of any book, record, report, memorandum, paper, communication, tabulation, map, chart, photograph, mechanical transcription or other tangible document or recording wherever situate. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 206 Domestic abuse: means abuse as defined in section 4002. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 1501 domestic partners: means 2 unmarried adults who are domiciled together under long-term arrangements that evidence a commitment to remain responsible indefinitely for each other's welfare. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 10001Early intervention services: means developmental services that are provided under public supervision; are provided at no cost except where federal or state law provides for a system of payments by families, including a schedule of sliding fees; are designed to meet the developmental needs of a child with a disability, as identified by the individualized family service plan team, in one or more areas including physical development, cognitive development, communication development, social or emotional development and adaptive development; meet the standards of the State; are provided by qualified personnel; to the maximum extent appropriate, are provided in natural environments, including the home, and community settings in which children without disabilities participate; and are provided in conformity with an individualized family service plan. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 7001 Economic abuse: means causing or attempting to cause an individual to be financially dependent by maintaining control over the individual's financial resources, including, but not limited to, unauthorized or coerced use of credit or property, withholding access to money or credit cards, forbidding attendance at school or employment, stealing from or defrauding an individual of money or assets, exploiting the individual's resources for personal gain of the defendant or withholding physical resources such as food, clothing, necessary medications or shelter. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 2001 Enrolled customer: means a customer who elects coverage under a portable electronic device insurance policy issued to a vendor. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7001 Entitlement: A Federal program or provision of law that requires payments to any person or unit of government that meets the eligibility criteria established by law. Entitlements constitute a binding obligation on the part of the Federal Government, and eligible recipients have legal recourse if the obligation is not fulfilled. Social Security and veterans' compensation and pensions are examples of entitlement programs. Equitable: Pertaining to civil suits in "equity" rather than in "law." See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 4102 Law enforcement officer: means a person who by virtue of public employment is vested by law with a duty to maintain public order or to make arrests for crimes, whether that duty extends to all crimes or is limited to specific crimes. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 8301-A registered mail: when used in connection with any requirement for notice by mail shall mean either registered mail or certified mail. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72 Registrant: means the person who registers commercial fertilizer under this subchapter. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 742 Registrant: means the person who registers plant or soil amendments under the provisions of this subchapter. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 776 Regular interest: means interest at the rate set from time to time by the board in accordance with section 17156. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 17001 Reimbursement insurance policy: means a policy of insurance, issued to a provider, that provides reimbursement to the provider under the terms of the insured service contracts issued or sold by the provider or, in the event of the provider's nonperformance, pays to service contract holders on behalf of the provider all covered contractual obligations incurred by the provider under the terms of the insured service contracts issued or sold by the provider. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7102 Related provider trust: means a titling trust or other trust established by a licensed settlement provider or a financing entity for the sole purpose of holding the ownership or beneficial interest in purchased policies in connection with a financing transaction. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 6802-A Related services: means special education transportation and such developmental, corrective and other related services, as defined by the commissioner, as are required to assist children with disabilities to benefit from their special education programs. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 7001 Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant. Remand: When an appellate court sends a case back to a lower court for further proceedings. Rental agreement: means a written agreement between a customer and self-storage provider that establishes or modifies the terms, conditions or other provisions governing a customer's occupancy and use of a storage space within a self-storage facility owned or operated by the self-storage provider. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7601 Reporter: Makes a record of court proceedings and prepares a transcript, and also publishes the court's opinions or decisions (in the courts of appeals). Rescission: The cancellation of budget authority previously provided by Congress. The Impoundment Control Act of 1974 specifies that the President may propose to Congress that funds be rescinded. If both Houses have not approved a rescission proposal (by passing legislation) within 45 days of continuous session, any funds being withheld must be made available for obligation. Reserve maintenance fund: means a fund established by a resolution authorizing bonds of the authority as a source to pay for turnpike maintenance, turnpike rehabilitation, insurance, emergency repairs of the turnpike, remediation of turnpike deficiencies and other perennial costs and selected capital projects as recommended by a consulting engineer. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 1964 residence: refer to an individual's place of domicile. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 2001 Residence: means , with reference to a person's eligibility to receive career and technical education, the school administrative unit in which is located the legal residence of the person's parent if the person has not reached 18 years of age, the legal residence of the person after the person reaches 18 years of age or the legal residence of the person after the person becomes an emancipated minor. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 8301-A Resident: means a citizen of the United States or a person who is not a citizen of the United States who has been domiciled in the State for one year who:
A. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 10001Restitution: The court-ordered payment of money by the defendant to the victim for damages caused by the criminal action. Retailer: means a person engaged in the business of buying potatoes or rotation crops in wholesale or jobbing quantities and reselling the potatoes or rotation crops bought primarily to consumers through at least 5 retail outlets located within or without the State. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 1012 Retirement: means termination of membership with a retirement allowance granted under this chapter. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 17001 Retirement benefit: means the same as retirement allowance. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 17001 Retirement system: means the Maine Public Employees Retirement System. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 17001 Revenue: means , in the case of bonds or notes issued by the bank to finance the qualified transportation projects, payment of funds derived from the United States Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration and any other investment, gift, grant, contribution, appropriation and income and any other amount pledged to secure payment of such bonds or notes. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 1611 Revenue fund: means a fund established by a resolution authorizing bonds of the authority as the initial depositary for all operating income of the authority; certain operating expenses, defined by bond resolutions, are paid from the revenue fund before further transfers are made to funds for debt service, reserve maintenance and general reserves. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 1964 Review committee: means the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over judiciary matters. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 431 rider: means an individual or person who uses a transportation network company's digital network to connect with a transportation network company driver for a ride between locations chosen by the rider. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7302 Riparian proprietor: means an owner or lessee of property on the bank of a river or stream or shore of a pond or other small body of water impounded by a particular dam. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 38 Sec. 817 Rotation crop: means small grain, soybean or flax grown in rotation with potatoes. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 1012 Rule: means a written statement by the interstate commission promulgated pursuant to section 18513 that is of general applicability; implements, interprets or prescribes a policy or provision of the compact or an organizational, procedural or practice requirement of the interstate commission; has the force and effect of statutory law in a member state; and includes the amendment, repeal or suspension of an existing rule. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 18503 Sale: includes every contract of purchase or sale, contract to purchase or sell, purchase, sale and disposition of potatoes or rotation crops for value. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 1012 Satellite program: means a program providing career and technical education to secondary students and middle school level students that is operated, under section 8403?A, by a school administrative unit affiliated with a center. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 8301-A School administrative unit: means the state-approved unit of school administration and includes a municipal school unit, school administrative district, community school district, regional school unit or any other municipal or quasi-municipal corporation responsible for operating or constructing public schools, except that it does not include a career and technical education region. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1 secondary highway: means any state highway, but which is not part of the interstate or primary systems. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 1903 Secondary school: means that portion of a school that provides instruction in any combination of grades 9 through 12. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1 Security deposit: means any advance or deposit, regardless of its denomination, of money, the primary function of which is to secure the performance of a lease or tenancy at will agreement for residential premises or any part thereof. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 14 Sec. 6031 Self-storage facility: means any real property or facility in which individual storage spaces rented or leased by a self-storage provider to a customer are located and within which a customer is generally responsible for placing and removing property the customer stores within a rented or leased storage space. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7601 Self-storage insurance: means personal property insurance authorized under section 705 providing coverage for the repair or replacement of personal property of a covered customer stored at a self-storage facility or in transit to or from a self-storage facility against various causes of loss, including loss or damage. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7601 Self-storage provider: means a person or business entity, as defined in section 1151?A, subsection 4, that is the owner, operator, lessor or sublessor of a self-storage facility. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7601 Seller: means any person who sells or contracts to sell potatoes or rotation crops in the regular course of business. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 1012 Sequester: To separate. Sometimes juries are sequestered from outside influences during their deliberations. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 17001 Service contract: includes a contract or agreement sold for a separately stated consideration for a specific duration that provides for any of the following:
A. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7102Service contract holder: means a person who is the purchaser or holder of a service contract. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7102 Service credit: means credit received for creditable service as defined under subsection 10. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 5 Sec. 17001 Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party. Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims. Settlement contract: includes the transfer for compensation or value of ownership or beneficial interest in a trust or other entity that owns such policy if the trust or other entity was formed or availed of for the principal purpose of acquiring one or more life insurance contracts, which life insurance contract insures the life of a person residing in this State. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 6802-A Settlement producer: means any person who has life insurance producer authority, who acts or aids in any manner in the soliciting of a settlement on behalf of a viator and for a fee, commission or other valuable consideration offers or attempts to negotiate settlement contracts between a viator and one or more settlement providers. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 6802-A Settlement provider: means a person other than the viator that enters into or effectuates a settlement contract. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 6802-A Shared parental rights and responsibilities: means that most or all aspects of a child's welfare remain the joint responsibility and right of both parents, so that both parents retain equal parental rights and responsibilities, and both parents confer and make joint decisions regarding the child's welfare. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 1501 Shared vehicle: means a motor vehicle that is available for sharing through a peer-to-peer car sharing program. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7402 Shared vehicle driver: means an individual authorized to use a shared vehicle by the shared vehicle owner under a car sharing program agreement. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7402 Shared vehicle owner: means the registered owner of a shared vehicle, or a person or entity designated by the registered owner of a vehicle made available for sharing to shared vehicle drivers through a peer-to-peer car sharing program. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7402 Sign: means any structure, display, logo, device or representation which is designed or used to advertise or call attention to any thing, person, business, activity or place and is visible from any public way. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 1903 Ski area: means the ski slopes and trails, adjoining skiable terrain, areas designated by the ski area operator to be used for skiing as defined by section 15217, subsection 1, paragraph B and passenger tramways administered or operated as a single enterprise within this State. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 15202 Ski area operator: means a person or organization having operational responsibility for a ski area, including an agency or a political subdivision of this State. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 15202 Ski industry: means the activities of all ski area operators. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 15202 Skier: means any person who engages in any of the activities described in section 15217, subsection 1, paragraph B. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 15202 Small business: means any business having fewer than 500 employees working at the site being acquired or permanently displaced by a program or project. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 242 Social media: means an electronic medium or service through which users create, share and view user-generated content, including, but not limited to, videos, still photographs, blogs, video blogs, podcasts, instant and text messages, e-mail, online service accounts and Internet website profiles and locations. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 4102 Soil amendment: means any product distributed consisting of a soil-amending ingredient and other ingredients. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 776 Soil-amending ingredient: means any substance which is intended to improve the chemical, biological or physical characteristics of the soil, except commercial fertilizers, plant-amending ingredients, agricultural liming materials, unmanipulated animal and vegetable manures, pesticides and other like material, exempted by rule. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 776 Sole parental rights and responsibilities: means that one parent is granted exclusive parental rights and responsibilities with respect to all aspects of a child's welfare, with the possible exception of the right and responsibility for support. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 1501 Something of value: means any money or property, any token, object or article exchangeable for money or property, or any form of credit or promise directly or indirectly contemplating transfer of money or property, or of any interest therein. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 7001special education program: is a full-time or part-time educational program designed to provide an equal educational opportunity to children with disabilities through the delivery of special education services by qualified individuals. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 7001 Special purpose entity: means a corporation, partnership, trust, limited liability company or similar entity formed solely to provide either directly or indirectly access to institutional capital markets for a financing entity or licensed settlement provider. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 6802-A State: means any state, commonwealth, district or territory of the United States. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 32 Sec. 18503 state: means any state, territory or possession of the United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 101 State agency: means any department, agency or instrumentality of this State or any political subdivision of this State, any department, agency or instrumentality of 2 or more states, or 2 more political subdivisions of the State or states and any person who has the authority to acquire property by eminent domain under state law. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 1964 Unit: means a school administrative unit. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 8301-A Unlawful: means not expressly authorized by statute. User fees: Fees charged to users of goods or services provided by the government. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 7001 Venue: The geographical location in which a case is tried. Verdict: The decision of a petit jury or a judge. Viator: means a person who assigns, transfers, sells, devises or bequeaths or seeks to assign, transfer, sell, devise or bequeath a death benefit or ownership of a life insurance policy or certificate under a settlement contract. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 6802-A Visible: means capable of being seen without visual aid by a person of normal visual acuity. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 1903 Volunteer fire association: means an organized firefighting unit incorporated under Title 13, chapter 81, or Title 13?B, and which is officially recognized by the municipality. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 10001 Wild bird: means a species of bird wild by nature, whether or not bred or reared in captivity, as distinguished from common domestic birds, and includes any physical part of that species of bird.
