- Advertisement: means all representations disseminated in any manner or by any means, other than by labeling, for the purpose of inducing, or which are likely to induce, directly or indirectly, the purchase of food. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2152
- Commissioner: means the Commissioner of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry or the commissioner's duly authorized agents. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2152
- Equitable: Pertaining to civil suits in "equity" rather than in "law." In English legal history, the courts of "law" could order the payment of damages and could afford no other remedy. See damages. A separate court of "equity" could order someone to do something or to cease to do something. See, e.g., injunction. In American jurisprudence, the federal courts have both legal and equitable power, but the distinction is still an important one. For example, a trial by jury is normally available in "law" cases but not in "equity" cases. Source: U.S. Courts
- Federal Act: means the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (Title 21 U. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2152
- Food: means articles used for food or drink for humans or other animals, chewing gum and articles used for components of any such article. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2152
- Franchisee: means a motor vehicle dealer to whom a franchise is offered or granted. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1171
- Franchisor: means a manufacturer, distributor or wholesaler who grants a franchise to a motor vehicle dealer. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1171
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Label: means a display of written, printed or graphic matter upon the immediate container of any article. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2152
- Labeling: means all labels and other written, printed or graphic matter upon an article or any of its containers or wrappers, or accompanying such article. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2152
- Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC

- Motor vehicle: means any motor-driven vehicle, except motorcycles and recreational vehicles defined under section 1432, subsection 18?A, required to be registered under Title 29?A, chapter 5. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1171
- Sale: means the issuance, transfer, agreement for transfer, exchange, pledge, hypothecation, mortgage in any form, whether by transfer in trust or otherwise, of any motor vehicle or interest therein or of any franchise related thereto; and any option, subscription or other contract, or solicitation looking to a sale, or offer or attempt to sell in any form, whether spoken or written.
