1. Passengers under 19 years of age. When a passenger under 19 years of age is transported in a pickup truck, that passenger must ride in the passenger compartment of the pickup truck.

Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 2088
- Motor vehicle: means a self-propelled vehicle not operated exclusively on railroad tracks, but does not include:
A. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 101Pickup truck: means a truck with a registered gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds or less. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 101 Truck: means a motor vehicle designed and used primarily to carry property. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 101
2. Exceptions. Subsection 1 does not apply to the following:
A. Workers or trainees, including agricultural workers or trainees, engaged in the necessary discharge of their duties or training or being transported between work or training locations; [RR 1999, c. 1, §41 (RAL).]
B. Licensed hunters being transported to or from a hunting location, as long as those persons are in compliance with all laws pertaining to possession and transportation of firearms in a motor vehicle; [RR 1999, c. 1, §41 (RAL).]
C. Participants in parades; [PL 2001, c. 360, §13 (AMD).]
D. A passenger secured by a seat belt in a manufacturer-installed seat located outside the passenger compartment; or [PL 2001, c. 360, §13 (AMD).]
E. Campers and hikers being transported in Baxter State Park. [PL 2001, c. 360, §14 (NEW).]
