Subdivision 1.Scope.

For the purposes of this chapter, the terms defined in this section have the meanings given them.

Terms Used In Minnesota Statutes 552.01

  • Person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, and to partnerships and other unincorporated associations. See Minnesota Statutes 645.44

“Public authority” means the public authority responsible for child support enforcement.

Subd. 3.Judgment debtor.

“Judgment debtor” means an obligor against whom the public authority has a judgment for the recovery of money owed pursuant to a support order as defined in section 518A.26, subdivision 21.

Subd. 4.Third party.

“Third party” means the person or entity upon whom the execution levy is served.

Subd. 5.Claim.

“Claim” means the unpaid balance of the public authority’s judgment against the judgment debtor, including all lawful interest and costs incurred.

Subd. 6.Financial institution.

“Financial institution” means all entities identified in section 13B.06.

Subd. 7.Judgment.

“Judgment” means a child support judgment by operation of law under section 548.091, subdivision 1a, or under a proceeding under section 548.091, subdivision 2a.
