Terms Used In Montana Code > Title 53 > Chapter 3 - General Relief

  • Answer: The formal written statement by a defendant responding to a civil complaint and setting forth the grounds for defense.
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
  • Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
  • Municipality: means any incorporated city or town. See Montana Code 7-2-4704
  • Person: includes a corporation or other entity as well as a natural person. See Montana Code 1-1-201
