- Council: means the palliative care and quality of life interdisciplinary advisory council provided for in 50-12-203. See Montana Code 50-12-202
- Department: means the department of public health and human services provided for in 2-15-2201. See Montana Code 50-12-202
- Palliative care: means patient-centered and family-centered medical care that optimizes quality of life by anticipating, preventing, and treating suffering caused by serious illness. See Montana Code 50-12-202
- Presiding officer: A majority-party Senator who presides over the Senate and is charged with maintaining order and decorum, recognizing Members to speak, and interpreting the Senate's rules, practices and precedents.
- Program: means the palliative care consumer and professional information and education program provided for in 50-12-205. See Montana Code 50-12-202
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Montana Code 1-1-201
