27-2-502. Definitions. As used in this part, unless the context requires otherwise, the following definitions apply:
Terms Used In Montana Code 27-2-502
- action: as used in this chapter , is to be construed, whenever it is necessary to do so, as including a special proceeding of a civil nature. See Montana Code 27-2-101
- State: means a state, commonwealth, territory, or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, a foreign country, or a political subdivision of any of them. See Montana Code 27-2-502
- Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
- United States: includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Montana Code 1-1-201
(1)”Claim” means a right of action that may be asserted in a civil action or proceeding and includes a right of action created by statute.
(2)”State” means a state, commonwealth, territory, or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, a foreign country, or a political subdivision of any of them.
