The Superintendent of State Police shall be the executive and administrative head of the Department of State Police. Subject to confirmation by the Senate in the manner provided in ORS § 171.562 and 171.565, the Governor shall appoint the superintendent for a term of four years. The Governor may remove the superintendent for inefficiency or malfeasance in office after charges have been preferred and a hearing granted. [Formerly 181.200]
