(1) In connection with any public assistance investigation or hearing, the Director of Human Services, the Director of the Oregon Health Authority or any examiner, referee or other officer duly appointed to conduct the investigation or hearing may by subpoena compel the attendance and testimony of witnesses and the production of books, accounts, documents and other papers, and may administer oaths, take depositions and fix the fees and mileage of witnesses.

Terms Used In Oregon Statutes 411.593

  • Public assistance: means the following types of assistance:

    (a) Temporary assistance for needy families granted under ORS § 412. See Oregon Statutes 411.010

  • Subpoena: A command to a witness to appear and give testimony.
  • Testimony: Evidence presented orally by witnesses during trials or before grand juries.

(2) The Department of Human Services and the Oregon Health Authority shall provide for defraying the expenses of such investigations or hearings, which may be held in any part of the state. [Formerly 411.375; 2011 c.720 § 113]
