The Legislative Assembly recognizes that substance use disorders, including opioid and opiate addiction, negatively impact the residents of this state. Therefore, it is the intent of the Legislative Assembly that substance use disorders be considered as chronic illnesses for which commensurate treatment is available and provided. [2019 c.583 § 1]
