If a tax has been levied against real or personal property, and thereafter and prior to the date the tax becomes due and payable, the person against whom the tax is charged files a petition in bankruptcy, or is adjudged a bankrupt upon an involuntary proceeding, the tax shall become immediately due. The tax collector of the county where the tax was levied shall prepare and present to the bankruptcy court proof of claim of the county for the tax. - Bankruptcy: Refers to statutes and judicial proceedings involving persons or businesses that cannot pay their debts and seek the assistance of the court in getting a fresh start. Under the protection of the bankruptcy court, debtors may discharge their debts, perhaps by paying a portion of each debt. Bankruptcy judges preside over these proceedings.
- Person: includes individuals, corporations, associations, firms, partnerships, limited liability companies and joint stock companies. See Oregon Statutes 174.100
- Personal property: All property that is not real property.
