- Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Householder: means a person who is 18 or more years of age and who owns or occupies a house as a place of residence and not as a boarder or lodger. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
- Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC
- Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
- Person: means any individual, corporation, partnership, association or other entity. See Kansas Statutes 19-2232
- Personal property: All property that is not real property.
- Personal property: includes money, goods, chattels, evidences of debt and things in action, and digital assets as defined in the revised uniform fiduciary access to digital assets act, Kan. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
- Temporary or transient business: means any business conducted for the sale or offer for sale of goods, wares, merchandise or services which is carried on in any building, structure, motor vehicle or railroad car, or on any real estate, for a period of less than six months in each year. See Kansas Statutes 19-2232
- Transient merchant: means any person who engages in, does or transacts any temporary or transient business in the state, either in one locality or in traveling from place to place in the state, and includes merchants who, for the purpose of carrying on such business, hire, lease, use or occupy any building, structure, motor vehicle, railroad car or real estate. - Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
