- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
Upon final determination of a contest of question submitted election by the court, after time for appeal thereof specified in Kan. Stat. Ann. § 25-1450 has expired, or in case of appeal, the final judicial determination of the contest, if the court finds that the greatest number of valid votes were in favor of the question submitted the court shall order that the question submitted has carried and likewise if the court finds that the greatest number of valid votes were against the question submitted the court shall order that the question submitted did not carry, and the court shall make such additional orders as are appropriate.
