(1) Trainee: A person meeting the qualifications stated in Florida Statutes § 484.0445, studying prescription hearing aid dispensing under the direct supervision of a sponsor, for the purpose of qualifying for certification to sit for the licensure examination.

    (2) Sponsor: An active, licensed hearing aid specialist under whose direct supervision one or more trainees are studying prescription hearing aid dispensing for the purpose of qualifying for certification to sit for the licensure examination.
    (3) Direct Supervision: A relationship in which the sponsor is responsible for all work being done and gives final approval to all prescription hearing aid dispensing work performed by the trainee. The sponsor or hearing aid specialist designated by the sponsor must be physically present in the same room at the time a prescription hearing aid is delivered to the client, and the receipt required by Florida Statutes § 484.051, must have the signature and license number of the sponsor or hearing aid specialist designated by the sponsor.
    (4) Designated hearing aid specialist: An active Florida licensed hearing aid specialist designated by the sponsor of a trainee to assist in the training of a trainee pursuant to Florida Statutes § 484.0445, and this chapter and who meets the qualifications established by this chapter.
