In computing any period of time prescribed or allowed by these rules, by order of the chief arbitrator, or by an applicable statute, the day of the act from which the designated period of time begins to run shall not be included. The last day of the period shall be included unless it is a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday in which event the period shall run until the end of the next day which is not a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday or any day when the clerk’s office at DOAH is closed. When the period of time prescribed or allowed is less than seven days, intermediate Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays shall be excluded in the computation. As used in these rules, legal holiday means those days designated in Florida Statutes § 110.117 Whenever a party is required or permitted to do an act within some prescribed time after service of a document, and the document is served by U.S. mail, five days shall be added to the prescribed period. One business day shall be added to the prescribed period when service is made by overnight courier. No additional time shall be added to the prescribed period if service is made by hand, facsimile telephone transmission, or other electronic transmission.
