(a) Except as provided in subdivisions (b) and (c), the board shall revoke the license of any person who has been required to register as a sex offender pursuant to § 290 of the Penal Code for conduct that occurred on or after January 1, 2017.
(b) This section shall not apply to a person who is required to register as a sex offender pursuant to § 290 of the Penal Code solely because of a misdemeanor conviction under § 314 of the Penal Code.

- Board: means the Medical Board of California. See California Business and Professions Code 2506
- Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
- license: means license, certificate, registration, or other means to engage in a business or profession regulated by this code or referred to in Section 1000 or 3600. See California Business and Professions Code 23.7
(c) This section shall not apply to a person who has been relieved under § 290.5 of the Penal Code of his or her duty to register as a sex offender, or whose duty to register has otherwise been formally terminated under California law.
(d) A proceeding to revoke a license pursuant to this section shall be conducted in accordance with chapter 5 (commencing with Section 11500) of Part 1 of Division 3 of Title 2 of the Government Code.
