(a) This article shall not be interpreted to limit a person‘s right to inspect public records pursuant to this division.
(b) Nothing in this article shall be construed to permit public access to records held by an agency to which access is otherwise restricted by statute or to alter the process for requesting a public record, as set forth in this division.
Terms Used In California Government Code 7922.725
- person: includes any natural person, corporation, partnership, limited liability company, firm, or association. See California Government Code 7920.520
- Process: includes a writ or summons issued in the course of judicial proceedings of either a civil or criminal nature. See California Government Code 22
- public records: includes any writing containing information relating to the conduct of the public's business prepared, owned, used, or retained by any state or local agency regardless of physical form or characteristics. See California Government Code 7920.530
- Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
