All county employees shall be hired, retained, disciplined, and dismissed based on rules, policies, and procedures adopted to implement this article. This personnel system shall apply to all employees except the following:

(1) Elected officials.

Terms Used In Alabama Code 45-2-120.03

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • following: means next after. See Alabama Code 1-1-1
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Alabama Code 1-1-1
  • United States: includes the territories thereof and the District of Columbia. See Alabama Code 1-1-1
(2) Members of appointed boards and commissions.
(3) Volunteers who receive no compensation from the county.
(4) Persons performing work under contract with the county and not carried on the payroll as employees.
(5) Persons whose employment is subject to the approval of the United States Government or the State of Alabama.
(6) Appointed employees.
(7) Appointed contract employees.
