Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes 397-2

  • Elevators and kindred equipment: means elevators, escalators, dumbwaiters, moving walks, stage lifts, inclined lifts, personnel hoists, permanently installed material lifts, and any other similar mechanized equipment used to convey people in places other than a public right-of-way. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 397-3

The legislature finds that the Hawaii occupational safety and health law does not adequately provide for the safe operation and use of pressure retaining items, amusement rides, and elevators and kindred equipment. The purpose of this law is to assure the safe operation and use of such apparatus in Hawaii.
