Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes 383-42
- Benefits: means the money payments payable to an individual, as provided in this chapter, with respect to the individual's unemployment. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 383-1
- Department: means the department of labor and industrial relations. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 383-1
- Referee: means the referee for unemployment compensation appeals. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 383-1
The department of labor and industrial relations shall be a party and be entitled to notice in any proceeding involving a claim for benefits before the referee. In any proceeding for judicial review pursuant to § 383-41, the department may be represented by any qualified attorney employed by the department and designated by it for that purpose, or at the department’s request by the attorney general.
